Warmer Kiwi Homes is a Government programme offering grants covering atleast 80% of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation and up to 80% of the cost of approved heaters (heater grants are capped at $3,000 incl GST). In some areas additional contributions from community funders are sought to make the retrofits as low cost as possible. To be eligible for a grant, applicants need to:

Own and live in the home, built before 2008
AND either
-
Have a Community Services Card or SuperGold Combo Card
OR
-
Live in an area identified as low-income in the EECA application tool found here

Additionally, to be eligible for a heater grant, homeowners must have ceiling and underfloor insulation to EECA standards. Heater grants are capped at $3,000 incl GST. There must not already be a fixed, working heater in a main living area.
